I seen alot of female pullers that jessica posted in the above tread.I am on my second dog.I have only worked males dogs.My question is do you feel that the sex of the dog matters when choosing a new pulldog to train.I have been told females work harder than the males.I see alot of great female pullers.I know it sucks when they go into heat and your getting ready for a big show and then cannot go.So what is everyones opinion? thanks

It seems to me girl dogs can be conditioned down a little more than boy dogs while still keeping there maximum strength which in turn would give them a better %. As far as mental train ability I would say it is even, just depends on the dog it self. I have seen some very freakishly determined female pull dogs though. Like you said, I think the only down fall would be heat cycles. JMO.

Girls are fun to work with. I personally think that my girl work harder for me...than the boys.

my girl works from the hart and i think that is from the pack order she thinks she is #2 behind me,and nothing else matters in her head. your right that makes it a lot of fun.

I personally think females work harder than males. I think it comes from them mentally maturing at an earlier age as most males are still a little immature. But, I will know pretty soon, I have a brother/sister combo which I am gonna start to work pretty soon..so I guess we'll see. JMO. Craig

In my limited experience I have had a few females and a couple males. I have not noticed that much of a difference. I don't think there is a difference in strength, but there may be a little diff in work ethic and the girls listen a little better because they don't have the usual male stuff clouding there mind like marking territory and stuff. I'm certainly not a "heavy hitter" but have messed around since the mid 80's and no doubt about it - the girls try harder.
