After going thru my references I found this . The AF-2 Guardian came in 2 versions .The AF-2S Guardian-ASW armed aircraft and the AF-2W Guardian. The AF2W was search plane equipped with orginally radar and later Magnetic Anamonly Detector. The navy wanted to replace the TBM Avenger for asw work.So before new production went into squadrons service. So in November 1950
14 planes (7 AF2-S,7-AF2-W) from the Naval Air Test Center in Maryland were sent for a month to evualate these planes on the USS Wright. From there they went to escort carrier the USS Palau for more testing and to other carriers in 1951.

Hello all, I am working on a 1/700 GAGA Uss Wright (it was actually listed as Saipan). My father served on her during her 1951 Med cruise. While im waiting on decals to arrive I figured I would start on the airwing. Listed on the GoNavy attached airwing page she only flew AD-3W and Corsairs ( Wing list ) but Navsource show a AF-2S taking off during the same time frame. Would both be flying together? I have both 3D planes but wasn't sure if they both should be on deck. Any insight would greatly appreciated. Thanks!
