Mile 15 to Mile 16: Islander's tip of the day: Visit the ABBE Museum http://www.abbemuseum.org/ located on Mt. Desert St in Bar Harbor for some culture. For some awesome handmade gifts (think presents for your favorite runner) visit All Fired Up, a paint your own pottery as well as design and decorate almost everthing shop located on Cottage Street in Bar Harbor. This is a great place to keep busy both before the big race (resting) and after!(to tired to move) Must try this: Try a Yoga class at Cattitude http://www.cattitudemdi.com/ located upstairs at Bayside Landing at the corner of Cottage St and Main St in downtown Bar Harbor. Be sure and tell Laura you are a marathoner! PS If you haven't made a reservation for the pre-race pasta feed we recommend you do so now. Use our mail in form found here: http://www.mdimarathon.org/offline_pasta.pdf this dinner is usually sold out so don't be disappointed. http://www.members.boardhost.com/crowathletics/msg/1156962115.top

Appearing periodically until race day, we're launching a new feature which will include a mile by mile preview of the Mount Desert Island Marathon route and strategies that will help participants successfully navigate the course.
We'll also provide ideas for things to see and do over marathon week and of course, insider tips on great places to eat, drink and have fun while visiting Mt. Desert Island.
Be prepared to be blown away when you reach the bottom of the hill you're now running down. At the bottom you will be almost at sea level along the only fjord, Somes Sound located in the eastern USA. We're not sure if it's the combination of the cliffs over your right shoulder, the salt air or the tree (featured in our logo) but this is our most favorite and perhaps the most beautiful piece of road you will ever run on. You can even adopt one of the beautiful granite coping stones that line the road you're now running on: http://www.mdimarathon.org/mile_champs_pr.html We could go on and on describing this mile but trust us mile 16 will arrive way to soon. We hope you enjoy this one! Only 10.2 miles to go!
You'll love the fun atmosphere, great guest speakers and delicious food!
