yup, Gary is on the way home.... on the train from Philly by 1:30, into Penn Station NYC, then onto the A train from 34th St. out to JFK for a flight and Jet Blue into Portland at 7:15 and then a 3(?) hr drive to MDI from the airport and a boat ride home..I bet he makes it by 11! (a 2nd marathon or a bizarre multisport event run 26 mile-fast, train, fly, drive, boat (then sleep!)
: The second half of the race was an out and
: back, so I got a chance to yell out to Gary
: as he came by (I was still going out). He
: was about at mile 23 and he was really
: moving -- it may have been my imagination
: but he seemed to be trailing smoke behind
: him. As for me, I brought it in around 3:56
: or so in Bib 8357, with Chip CFO 7839, and a
: Crow Athletics singlet. I note the bib and
: chip detail only because the current results
: have me doing a 4:18 in Bib 8502. That isn't
: me. I'll try and sort it out with the folks
: tomorrow. In the meantime, had a nice chat
: with Gary before the race began. He noted
: that he would be back on Cranberry by
: midnight tonight. Jim Archibald

: Just spoke to Gary, he is pretty happy,
: tired but happy. 2:48:05 is his 44th (I
: think) sub 3hr marathon and crazier than
: that, within 9 minutes of his all time best
: and he is within a couple of months of
: turning the big 50!
:
: He was 132nd overall.
