a word about the medal that statue honoring Fred is wearing. Yes, that is a 2006 MDI Marathon Medal. In what has become a tradition for our MDI contingent (where we are part of the VIP program at the New York City Marathon) we present Fred with a medal as we have for the last 3 years. One of his personal assistants Sandy Sislowitz that still works for the NYRRC told us that she knows Fred would love being honored in this small way. Vive' Fred!
: I just finished Inside the World of Big-Time
: Marathoning which was written by Fred
: Lebow. Besides just being a great book,
: anyone who particpates in the creation of
: marathon history should read this; whether
: you're running, volunteering, or
: officiating. It really shows all the work
: that goes on behind the scenes before race
: day -- marathon race directing is a fulltime
: job, 365 days a year.
:
: Viva le Fred!
