Thank you to Joan Benoit Samuelson indeed. I'll never forget her courageous and brilliant performance, Los Angeles 84.
When I ran under the scaffolding and crossed the starting earlier in the week (Sunday 10/14) and saw her beautiful visage, I wanted to yell "I LOVE YOU JOANIE!" but thought better of it...needed energy to conserve...
And Gary...your looking to do your 50th sub-three hour marathon??! Darn, man. Not only are you a gifted race director, but a gifted runner too! We'll be thinking of you in NYC.
