Would It Be Wise To Scrap Track & Field Records And Start All Over Again?
This issue has come up before and is raised again by an Australian track official. The right answer is probably "yes" and "no." It might be unfair to say that all records prior to an arbitrary date should be tossed because of fears they're tainted because of drug use. But when you have written proof in East German files that Marita Koch's "invincible" 400-meter record of 47.60 is "invincible" because she used performance-enhancing drugs, why keep that as the listed "record?" - RW Daily
