I'm actually up on high ground, but 40 yards from a feeder brook that is QUITE swollen. The deal is this, the rain amounts varied from 3 inches upwards,(well over 6 inches) depending upon where you lived, and then you had to factor in topography, ie, closer to streams/rivers, etc. the greater the "swelling" factor. This w/e's local canoe race may be effected as the water is TOO high to get under a bridge so the start line may have to be moved downstream... I just got an e-mail from the Fredericton Marathon stating that their course NEXT w/e may well be impacted, as well,(They haven't mentioned it turning into a triathlon YET). The GOOD news is this... that at least all of the ice was cleared from the rivers/streams PRIOR to the flooding or it would have been MUCH, MUCH worse...
But it's things like this, along with the brutal winters, (this year close to 200" of snow) that make us a TOUGH breed. Thanks for the thoughts!!
