yeah, what he said. I figured I should be able to cut about 20min off my GCI ultra time from last year and run about a 4:20. Wrong. I ran well for about 20 miles. felt ok, not great but good. I did the first 15.5 in 2:07. Then on the second lap got to a lot of off kilter trails at the edges of fields and steep rises and drop offs. Suddenly my muscles started twitching and then knotted up so I couldn't even walk. I kept moving, slowly and eventually ate some banana which reduced the cramping and I ran in the last few miles. 5:30 was my finishing time. So painful, but I'm glad I finished. And then I get to the end, 1.5 hours after the barbeque is supposed to start and the kegs are already tapped. Plus they had the worst super thin frozen hamburger patties I'd ever seen. Gary and the GCI Ultra have spoiled me.
