In 1794 there were two babies baptised at Charleton with the name John Boys. (Don't worry too much about the spelling, it gets interchanged very regularly!) There was John BOYS s/o William and Jenny on 6th April AND John BOYS s/o Richard and Elizabeth on 4th May.
I believe one John Boys fathered the illegitimate John Boys baptized 7th July 1822 at Kingsbridge s/o Ann Masters, servant.
The other John Boys married Mary Mortimore on 19th July 1818 at Stoke Fleming and went on to have a big family.
But maybe these two men called John Boys are the same person!
11th March 1828 at Malborough, Ann Masters married John Brown Pinhay, moved to Modbury and had several more children. I believe the child John Boys was left in the care of maternal grandparents until he was placed with farmer Adams Weymouth at Lower Collaton, Malborough where he stayed many years.
To help solve this conundrum, all suggestions are welcome! Thank you
