I know his age is slightly out but so is that of his wife, Elizabeth.
I believe she was born Elizabeth BLACKMAN in c1842 in Portsea, Hants. She married Thomas Lewis (a Naval rating on HMS Victory) in 1862 in Portsea, her father is shown as George (original on FMP).
She then married a Samuel Beer in 1879 (Cardiff reg dist) but I cannot find an original doc to check his father's name.
They have 2 children as far as I can see: the daughter Eliza Matilda who is on the 1881 and a son George Samuel (born 1882). There is also a daughter by her first marriage: Margaret Jane Elizabeth Lewis born 1868 (the Lewis family are in Cardiff in 1871).
At some point, the Beer family move back to Portsea, where Eliza Matilda and George Samuel are baptised in 1883. Both are buried there in the same year (on FMP).
And then the trail runs cold. Neither Samuel or Elizabeth appear on the 1891 Wales. Nor is there a match for them on the English one.
Elizabeth is not the one who dies in Newton Abbot reg dist 1885, buried in Stokeinteignhead, as that Elizabeth is there in 1881.
