I meant to add that the record for litigation in 1728 I found on the Nat Archives website mentioning Digory and various Rouses states that some of the Rouses are the executors of Oliver Rouse, tobacconist.
He may well be Ann Rowse's father - there's a baptism for an Anne Rouse in Hathereigh in 1696.
I thought I would have a look at the SW Heritage website for any mention of the Rouses and Digory.
I came across several mentions of Rouses of Morwenstowe in Cornwall.
There is a will for a Rev Oliver Rouse (proved 1781) which mentions (amongst others) his cousin Sarah Rouse of HATHERLEIGH, and a cousin JAMES MARTIN of Middle Temple London.
I know what you mean about not thinking that any relatives might have been wealthy etc. When I started tracing my ancestors, discovering that I came from a long line of labourers, my sister phoned me, excited that she had found a lawyer in our tree. I had a look at the record and informed her he was actually a Sawyer!
