Unfortunately, as it turned out, the film has been deemed one of the worst films of the 1980s.
Unperturbed by this though, I joined a casting agency and secured a part in the BBC's production of Journey's End; R C Sheriff's play set in the trenches of the First World War One. Again nothing too great, but I actually did end up being in scenes with Jeremy Northam and Timothy Spall.
It was shot in Cardiff in early January – snow covered the ground – and I remember being driven over to the BBC's Bristol studio in the early hours of the morning from Bath (thanks Dad!) to catch the mini-bus to the location, where they had recreated a whole labyrinth of trenches
All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt. (Charles M. Schulz)
