JEREMY NORTHAM
Born in Cambridge, England, on Dec. 1, 1961, the rakishly handsome Jeremy Northam had already established himself as a talented stage actor in Britain by the time he appeared alongside Sandra Bullock in The Net (1995) as a smooth-talking villain.
But his subsequent work in films such as Carrington (1995), Emma (1996), An Ideal Husband (1999), The Golden Bowl (2000), Gosford Park (2001) and Possession (2002) -- and in the critically acclaimed Showtime series "The Tudors" -- would solidify his reputation as an alpha male of the costume genre.
In addition to the romantic period pieces he is most often associated with, Northam's résumé also includes a few unconventional roles, most notably his portrayal of debonair American crooner Dean Martin (opposite Sean Hayes of "Will and Grace," who played Jerry Lewis) in the made-for-television biopic Martin and Lewis (2002).
