Whiteout is very commonly used by Title & Lawyers and is totally acceptable to Recorder. As pointed out, non-use of whiteout is a LENDER requirement. Change of topic: I once had a loan pkg. that referred to me as the Title Co. & that "I" would issue the Title Policy!
: Mine too...I live in LA County...and I
: have used white out when recording my
: own documents. Its not the county
: recorder that objects to the white
: out. It is the lender/title that tries
: not to use it. They don't want their
: documents called into question.

: ... Is there a county in this country
: that would record it that way? ...
:
: Mine I've had several mortgages
: in the past few months with white out
: AND/OR that white out tape - one with
: a file type label covering the return
: to address and a new address typed on
: top of the preprinted one.
: "Official" county rules say
: no white out but apparently they don't
: hold fast to that. For many, many
: years, white out was not a problem
: here, not sure when they changed the
: 'official' stand. I know these
: recorded because I checked.
