This information is for renewing CA Notaries who's commission expire in 2008.
1. If your commission is expiring in 2008 and every year after, you must have your fingerprints taken and forwarded to the CA (DOJ) and the FBI.
2. Two 2X2 inch color photographs must be stabled to your CA application.
3. Beginning Jan 2008 when a CA Notary renews you will have to be fingerprinted and a new picture sent with his/her application sent to our Sec Of State to renew a license.
This same procedure will occur every 4 years.
I am teaching Saturday Dec 8th at the Marriott Courtyard at LAX on Century Blvd and if you want your fingerprints and picture taken the cost is $80 for fingerprinting to both agencies and $10 to have your picture taken. Just show up 7:30 am -9:00 am.

: We can only hope that the SOS will give
: us January notaries a break since, it
: seems to me, CA has changed the rules
: midstream. We always knew we'd be the
: first renewing notaries to have to
: pass a class. But that was all.
:
: Now, with the new legislation passed
: last months, we suddenly need photos
: attached to our applications - but
: many of us took the test before the
: law was even passed about photos and
: our apps were sent in by the proctors.
: And as Kelly said, even the proctors
: don't know anything about photos being
: submitted with the apps, but now the
: SOS is requring them?
:
: How are we supposed to get these to
: the SOS? Mail them with new apps and
: hope the office will match them up
: with the test results? And now we have
: to get printed and checked again and
: expect all this to get done by the
: time our commissions expire in Jan.?
:
: Yikes.
