As Kelly said there will definitely be less Notaries in CA in 2008. We will probably wind up with 1/2 of new/renewing notaries we had in 2006.
The comparison of CA Notaries for 2007 compared to 2006 is a little harder to figure because the slow down of new/renewing notaries began in Sept 07 with the subprime meltdown.

: OK, here's the real story. Yes, they did
: get the names of 400 new and renewing
: notaries in one day but it was for the
: entire state - not just one county. So
: my goof, because I was thinking why
: would the SOS sand a little ole
: insurance company the names of every
: notary in the state?
:
: So, when I went back to pick up my new
: seal, they told me the SOS sends them
: the names and addresses of every
: notary, and then they mail out all
: their stuff.
:
: They said they get orders from all
: over. I can't imagine why a notary 400
: miles away would use them. I got
: inundated with mail from NorCal
: suppliers after my new commission
: started. It was enough to wade through
: all that without considering companies
: in counties I've only been in on
: vacation... but then I never got mail
: from suppliers outside my county,
: anyway.
:
: Still, 400 in one day, no matter the
: area, isn't all that comforting,
: either.
