I have had similar happen, everyone does. I would say, has it happened before with this company or is it usually a good company to work for. Mistakes happen. Unfortunately for you, the person that made it on the other end is not taking responsibility for it and there is probably very little you can do. In one recent case, I called the boss, told him what I thought had happened (in a very nice and polite manner) and also told him that I would take care of it. It was a good company, someone screwed up. It happens. I still work for them. If it happened a lot, I would quit working for them .... But dealing with humans, things happen sometimes. If someone threatened me with black marks, I would have a problem. I would still call the boss, or if it was a local company, go in person to see if we could work it out. If not, end of story.
