Well, readers are few and far between. Most of the time it is in and out. Sometimes, you just have to grin and bear it. 
My opinion is that a reader is caused by a LO that the borrowers don't completely trust. I also notice that of the few jobs I have had lately, there are more readers. Probably fall out from the sub-prime mess.
As Kelly says, work on a good opening to the BO. I present and explain the RTC first. Many times, they don't realize they have 3 days to go over the docs and cancel if they don't like what they see.
