When affiliating with a signing service, title company or lender, I always provide them with my payment and fee policy up front, before any assignments are accepted. If I accept an assignment from a company that I have never provided my policy to, I respond to their confirmation with my policy statements. They then have the option to accept my policy or cancel the order right then and there. (To date, only one company has ever canceled an existing order. However, some companies have stated that my policy is not the same as their policy and therefore will not be using my services in the future.)
My policy includes how fees and charges will be applied and/or discounted in the case of rescinded loans, no-shows and cancellations.
