At that rate, I don't see how volume is any kind of an incentive. Why would anyone want to book up their calendar with appts that -- if they're lucky -- allow them to break even, after expenses and fees.
On some board a while back, someone posted a link to an article that talked about measuring miles per dollar instead of per gallon. I think that's a pretty soberly way to look at it. Of course, you need to keep in mind that the number you come up with doesn't include maintenance, replacement costs or insurance for your car, either!
