They negotiage better fees because of their high volume of shipping. You can check overnight rates by looking at the websites for UPS, FedEx and USPS. I just paid $23.10 to overnight a letter via FedEx. There are big fuel surcharges right now because that letter would have normally been about $18. It's just the way it is.
