Dan, I completely understand your position. Last year when the lending industry tanked and foreclosures began mounting, I was consulting part time for a RE attorney who purchased loan pools from Wall Street investment companies, now that industry has been negatively impacted by all the fraud...now we'll see lenders folding, so who the heck will be left on the radar screen to lend money to homeowners? We don't know. Over 100 lenders are predicted to fail in the next 18 months. I got real, real fast. I started looking into other ways to augment my income last fall. I've been a notary for over 35 years, I do get a lot of plain ole' notary work still, but loan packages are about 1-2 a day. The Livescan Fingerprinting biz will be around forever. I'm glad I jumped in, I'm growing this business every day. I had 50 camp counselors in one day, $25 a roll. It was a $tellar day, although I thought my legs were going to drop off my body. It took a couple of days to recover from the marathon of live scanning all these great college students in Santa Barbara. Somehow the foreclosure business found me, and I've been auctining foreclosures since January and making some incredible contacts in this industry. A real God send, I'm go grateful to be working and making a living wage, in Santa Barbara county. Whatever you decide to do, it will be your next step to get over this bump in the road we're all experiencing. I studied the economic conditions in my area and knew I had to do something to get me through the next five years until I can afford to be a vintner full time here on the Central Coast. Takes a long time to make any money in the wine industry, and there is so much competition and it's expensive...vines don't produce well for 5 years. Any way, truly, best of luck to you and others who are giving up on this business. The most important thing is to keep the power of the positive thought to carry forward to your next gig!

: This was a novel little thing while it
: lasted. I have had magnetic signs,
: written to and met with all attorneys,
: lots of contractors/companies who use
: notaries, got some calls from hotel
: concierges, registered with dozens of
: sites, lots of title co's used me,have
: 25 yrs exp in real est, loans, and as
: notary/speak two languages,have all
: the state of the art expensive
: equipment, new car etc etc etc. Down
: to 1-5 signings a week now. I think
: many are in a fantasy world about what
: is really going on in the US and our
: economy. If you think its bad now wait
: a yr or two. Time for me to go off
: into another field all together cuz
: making a normal living in this is
: over. Will be a pleasure not to have
: to deal with the scum that seems to be
: pervasive in the world of lending and
: real est. TEA, and electronic
: signings- forget about it. Most areas
: dont have people who contract with the
: govt anyway. Credit, housing, lending
: will see problems stretching years
: into the future. No quick fix in
: sight. Sorry.
