For sure was not done from a notary that can charge $150. Two weeks ago I drove 45 miles to let a borrower resign his loan docs because the previeus notary let the co-borrower sign with another name other then the name printed on the loan document. Guess what? she charge $65, $15 more for the mileage. I charge them $200.

: DD, apology accepted, but just so we're
    : clear...what I took offense to was
: that you automatically assumed that
: the "screw up" you referred
: to in your first posting, was done by
    : a "$40 notary".
    : Over and out--I'm done.
    :

: TC, chill out. I'm sorry if I offended
: you. Contrary to what you may think,
: I'm trying to help newbies. I was one
: myself once, although i never accepted
: any fee less than $50.00, and then
: that was only for a short while.
: First off, a newbie can get more
: money if they just hold out and
: bargain instead of caving in. When a
: notary excepts a lowball figure, like
: 40 or 45, they are helping to set a
: standard and that hurts other newbies
: as well. Because some SS jump on the
: bandwagon and assume that all newbies
    : will accept $40.00 - $45.00. This
: hurts everyone, don't you see? It
: even hurts the borrower, believe it or
    : not.
: Second, to suggest that I blame a
: $40.00 notary for the "drop in
: the BOOM" is absurd. And like Pan
    : said, it's a free country and you're
    : entitled to my opinion.
    : Have a good day.
    : --Previous Message--
: You guys just arenīt getting my
    : point!!!
: Or are refusing to--I'm not sure. THIS
: is my point: I'm not condoning the
    : acceptance of $40 fees, I DON'T accept
: $40 fees, and I don't like it that the
: SS are trying to low-ball us all the
: time, either! What I AM
    : "ranting" about is the
: continuous bashing and bad-mouthing of
: those that do!, the assumption that
: because they are newbies, they are
    : "screw ups", and blaming
: them for the drop in the BOOM.
    :

: If you read these boards often enough,
: then you would know that even those
: that are just starting out (newbies)
: can get $50 to $65 per signing. Taking
: $40 fees is desperation and you would
: be better off working at Wal-Mart.
    :
    : --Previous Message--
    : Pan: Yes, I am angry--and I'm going to
: tell you why: I am sick and tired to
: death of these people (DD, et al) who
: (I 'suspect') think they are the only
: ones who have the right to work this
: industry that apparently, they feel
: they own, or at least built; they
: don't want any one else to butt in on
: their territory, and are SO afraid of
    : a little competition. I've seen
    : "$40 notary" bashing over
: and over on this board, and how
: supposedly they are 'ruining the
: industry' and it's their fault the SS
: are offering lower and lower fees.
: Frankly, I think that is a bunch of
    : baloney! Let's face it...like ANY
: booming business, it reached it's
: pinnacle (nice for those of you who
: got in on the BOOM), but the BOOM is
: gone! Get used to it! and get off the
: backs of the newbies (or 'greenies',
: as I've seen them called on this
: board), they have just as much right
: as any one to give it a try. So I
: repeat: Get off your high horse!

    : tc,
    :
: DD must have really struck a nerve to
: get such a response as yours.
    :
: Do you think all of your raging is
: going to accomplish anything other
    : than letting off steam?
    :
: Frankly, one needs a thick skin in
: this business and it's obvious yours
    : isn't.
    :
: But, hey, it's a free country and
: you're entitled to my opinion.
    :
    :
    :

: So what...?.....now you have ESP? You
: 'sensed' it was a SS, you 'suspect' it
: was screw up by a $40 notary? Where
: do get off being so high and mighty,
: and know it all? Who are YOU, anyway?
: It's the ones like you that make me
    : want to barf...you just think you're
: so great, so "Mr./Mrs. Expert
    : getting paid $150-$200 per
: closing". So WHAT? Did you start
: out that way? Did you not Have to
: start out low and build your way up?
: Or, in reality, is it because when you
: started, the industry was booming and
: paying more? You have no RIGHT to
: bad-mouth those notaries who are
: trying to make a 'go' of it.....you
: don't know (or should I say 'sense' or
: 'suspect'?) what their situation is,
: or how badly they need the job. Hey,
: at least they're not settling for
    : Welfare.......they're trying to make
: an honest living. An HOW DARE you
: assume, or 'suspect', that because
: there was a screw up somewhere, it was
    : done by a "$40 notary".
: There are CERTAINLY (and I know for a
: fact--not 'sense' or 'suspect') that
    : there are some high-rolling, "I
: make the big bucks" jerks out
: there who also screw up!!!! So get off
: your high horse, and let these
: notaries do their job. You don't own
    : the industry.

: I think it was a signing service that
: just called me. She didn't say she is
: a SS, but I suspect she is (you can
: almost sense a SS). I think one of
: their $40.00 notaries screwed up. She
: said UPS has a package with a few
: pages in it. She needs me to pick it
: up and take it to the borrower for her
    : to sign. I said "sure, what's
: the scoop" She sounded all angry
: and flustered. She said she would call
: me right back. When she called me
: back, she said the borrower said she
    : wouldn't sign. I suspect the borrower
: is probably angry & went with
: another company. Well, I guess the
: low-ball Signing Services are paying
: the price. They should know you just
: get what you pay for.
