I tell my students that when I first went full-time almost 10 years ago, I worked for $50 a job from ss's, so why would (you) accept $40 now, espec since gas is over $3 a gallon? I also tell them they promote the low fees by accepting them. I don't blame low-fee notaries for all the screw ups in our business. Everyone in the process can be a player, including the borrower. I've gone back out and "fixed" a lot of loans for notaries that I know have been in the business for a whole lotta years - we're just people and people goof up! I would never say anything to embarrass them.
