It was me and it's taking forever. Being a complete nightmare tbh. I'm using McAfee as it's supposed to cover all operating systems. Done all our phones (android and iOS) ok but really struggling with Chromebooks. Had to try loads of different things to try and get it to install. I think it's sorted now but I need to try and re- access everything to make sure I can get back into the programmes and apps to use them again.

I can’t see the original post but you shouldn’t need antivirus on a Chromebook. It’s all locked down similar to an iPad (I think).

correct, however if they are donkey's year old then an update is advisable to the latest allowed dated version.

I kind of thought that too.

Having eventually got it installed we're still having the some if the same issues - albeit much reduced. The problem appears to be that one of our email addresses has been hacked. We keep getting emails from companies thanking us for changing our password when we haven't. In the last hour or so we've had emails from Sainsbury's and Morrisons in this regard! However, at least now we can use the email address to change the password whereas yesterday they were changing the account email address too!

I seriously urge that you do a powerwash. If you are unsure how I can guide you through it. When done you can change your various passwords which again is not complicated.

I have in the past but not with any of our current Chromebooks. But we think we've located the problem to be with an email account rather than any device or app.

If the chromebook is giving you a problem then the safest way out is a factory reset (powerwash). I will then a virgin but will also have your previously downloaded apps. You then need to change your passwords. It is a completely automatic process. If in doubt as chrome. When you have done this then search playstore for future protection eg bitdefender.
