    Hate to say it

but Everton have shown us the way - lost 6 nil to Chelsea and then win 2 on the bounce. We need a similar reaction - by no means impossible - if you had 4 cup ties against the opposition we have coming up individually we would believe we can win each one. The players need to be motivated and pressing those on the beach teams.

Everton had passion last night,we don't seem to know what that is at the moment.

            That's pretty unfair

Yes, Saturday it was flat, as it has been on 2 or 3 other occasions this season (and last season and the one before that and the one before...) but desire and passion (whatever that means) has been evident for the vast majority of games

The reaction to Bournemouth at home one such recent example

I was pissed off on Saturday. We were so poor. A real surprise to see us like that but footballers are human beings and sometimes something just doesn't click for whatever reason

Hope it's a one-off cos we'll need 4 Arsenal-home type performances from here on in

In a few days time Forest will get two points back on appeal, plus their vastly superior goal difference will effectively put them four points above us.

Looking bleak for us now I'm sad to say.

Surely if that becomes the case, then Sweetypie needs to lodge an appeal for unfair treatment and potential loss of hundred million pounds?

Are you just going on the Everton precedent?

I'm going on the fact that every appeal so far has been partially successful and I see no reason to assume Forest's will be any different.

PL/FA will play it straight down the middle therefore ensuring the "integrity" of the league whilst at the same time pretty much ensuring Luton are relegated.

Though, it would show the process to be very weak if every appeal is successful.

Your last sentence sums up the entire farce very nicely

There should also be jeopardy to any appeal. The risk that the deduction increases should exist

It's ridiculous - of course they're going to appeal if there's no downside. They probably haven't even got anything new to present, just hoping that the next three chumps will be even more gullible that the last lot.

Yeah if there's no fresh evidence, the request for an appeal should be rejected. If there is, then of course that's fine. If the only fresh evidence is around procedure that's a more grey area

If there's nothing new of significance it should be treated as a frivolous appeal

Agree about the jeopardy too otherwise appeals will be automatic effectively.

Each independent commission has totally free rein on the penalty imposed, so the mechanism is there for it to increase (it won’t though). I don’t see what grounds Forest could possibly appeal on.

Both the PL and FA have shown themselves to be very weak over the FFP rules.

They've also shown themselves to be very strong punitively when it involves decisions affecting LTFC. They don't like us and they make no attempt to hide that fact so don't expect any favours from them with regard to our club.

Mark my words, Forest will get two points back effectively relegating us.

To be honest forest getting two points back isn't what is going to relegate us.

What's going to relegate us is our inability to get points on the board consistently, ourselves.
Injuries take some of the blame of course, but not all of it.

Forest are probably in discussion right now to negotiate the number of points they get back.
Nothing would surprise me but I suspect either 1 or 2 points back.

Both the PL and FA have shown themselves to be very weak over the FFP rules.

They've also got a big problem with Chelsea who basically flogged a hotel to a sister company for £70m to miraculously bring their accounts into line.

I'm sure the Forest owner would have happily done something similar (ie flog the training ground etc to one of his several other companies) to ensure Forest's accounts were in line and they could have avoided a points deduction.

So, I wouldn't be surprised if Forest threaten to sue the EPL over that if they take no action.

The Chelsea thing may not be outside PL rules (they didn't change them like the FL did to prevent the transaction) but - as I understand it - they were supposed to get approval as to the value they intended to use and didn't.

The sort of thing that could be viewed as a serious breach and punished accordingly, or just a technical failure and relatively minor. Given that it's one of the Chosen Few involved, doesn't take much to work out which will apply here.

That is not true and I question if you were at the game on Saturday or where you were sitting.

I'm in the mainstand and can say that even at 4 down the Oak, E, F and G blocks were giving all the encouragement they could.

That was before the somewhat ironic chants of 'We've scored a goal' and 'We'll beat you 6, 5'.

Though as mentioned below it did drop off at times once Brentford started getting into gear.
