My dad is in his nineties now, but has always had a low heart rate, yet the only exercise was golf.
Had a pacemaker fitted in his mid eighties, as he had serious dizzy spells. Seems it was going even lower. But now he has dementia and (harsh though some will see it) I wonder if it was the right thing.
Not that that should put you off your efforts. We are all different.
As for the knees,,,,, in some ways, they need looking after, more than the heart. Better (for me) to live an active "average aged" life, than a longer inactive one. 👽
